Developing Motor Skills in the Early Years

Following on from the previous Happy Healthy Kids session, RISE NI will facilitate a session on “developing motor skills in the early years”.

The aims of this session are:

to provide an overview of the importance of, and typical development of motor skills in children.
to explore factors which impact on the development of motor skills.
to provide strategies for use within the early years classroom to promote motor skills development.
to discuss how teachers can deliver the key messages to parents about promoting motor skills development.

This 1 day session will enable pre-school practitioners to become upskilled in sharing with parents and carers the importance of motor skills development – RISE NI will cover the theoretical concepts around motor skills development in children and how practitioners can support this in the early years’ settings. They will then model how to present these messages using the Getting Ready to Learn’s “Happy Healthy Kids” presentation which teachers can cascade in their own pre-school settings.
